“We don’t just want to live long. We want to live well.” How we eat and live to achieve this goal was the focus of our June SENS event, where CCPHP Members heard from Carolyn Brown, MS, RD, a registered dietitian at Foodtrainers, in her presentation, “Eat This Way to Live to 100.” 

Members enjoyed Brown’s nutrition tips, which ranged from the importance of adequate hydration to spicing up your life, moving more, and eating a rainbow of plant foods to support a healthy microbiome and overall health and functioning. 

More specifically, Brown recommended eating at least three of the following “longevity foods” daily:

  • Beans 
  • Greens
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Nuts, seeds or avocado
  • Wild fish (3x a week)
  • Extra virgin olive oil 
  • Fruits (berries, citrus)
  • Turmeric 
  • Organic coffee
  • Green Tea
  • Herbal tea
